Poetry ~ Jade Smith

Have No, Have To

The eyes that follow round the room
Have no soul, no light and no fear
Fingers pointing in random unison
Have no body, no sight and no tears
Whispers stirring in directed misconception
Have no mind, no right and no years
The leering of souls held in open veils
Have no life, no fight and just jeers

The frowns that etch on weary faces
Have to judge, to control and to know
Folded arms set to rest upon heaving chests
Have to scold, to absolve and to show
Asides made aloud directed into patrols
Have to mean, to regime and to grow
Succulent searing of souls aloft above the ceiling
Have to seethe, to devour and to flow

The eyes that follow around the room
Have to judge, to control and to know
The frowns that etch on weary faces
Have no soul, no light and no fear
Whispers stirring in directed misconception
Have to mean, to regime and to grow
Succulent searing of souls aloft above the ceiling
Have no life, no fight and just jeers

From certain complication to this life station
Have to seethe, to devour and to flow

Jade on Poetry:  ” I started getting into writing poetry at around the age of 15 when my GCSE English teacher encouraged me to use it as a way to express myself and to explore language further, and the passion for it hasn’t abated. I love the way that a few stanzas or lines can tell a complete story, evoke extreme emotion, convey a contradiction or have as much of a thought provoking impact as a full length book or article.”

  1. I agree with Jade about the power of poetry. The few words that say so much. A very well structured and thought provoking piece. I enjoy your poetry very much, Jade. 🙂

We would love to hear your thoughts :)
