Poetry ~ Kelly Phipps

Kelly Phipps  is a poet and student from the midwest. She considers her poetic style to be steeped in melancholy and the GenY culture.  Kelly is studying communications and public relations, yet remains clear that poetry is her utmost passion. Kelly is quite active in the micropoetry scene on Twitter.  Check out her poetic tweets: @__SimplyKelly__ . Read more of Kelly’s poetry on her blog:  Simplicity.

I walked through the forest

as wind insufflated the trees.

Their cries, though deafening, were mere whisperings to me.

I look at the ground counting stones and broken twigs.

I look for your crown, among the devil’s figs.

Why insist on sleeping when you know night’s dark fate?

Your empty mind is nothing now.

Just the devil’s bait.
